Allegrini La Grola

With more than six generations of winegrowing tradition, Allegrini is the most-awarded winery in the Veneto and the benchmark for Amarone. The Allegrini family’s innovations in appassimento winemaking have made the estate’s classic Amarone and Valpolicella wines exemplars of excellence, while their emphasis on single vineyard expressions of local grape varieties has drawn renewed interest in the Veneto. Led by CEO Marilisa Allegrini, president of Amarone Families (Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte), and winemaker Franco Allegrini, the estate continues to marry tradition with innovation, selling wine in over 60 countries worldwide. Poggio al Tesoro is also part of the Allegrini family; it is their pride and joy in the famed Bolgheri region.

Description

La Grola is the extraordinary result of the meeting of two great personalities: the hill of La Grola and the Valpolicella’s autochthonous grapes. The excellent exposure of the vineyards, which enjoy the sun’s warm rays and the cool breezes that come from nearby Lake Garda, allows the grapes to produce their very best. Careful, craftsman-like ageing in the cellar yields a red wine with great elegance, harmony and finesse that can evolve positively for over a decade. La Grola is excellent paired with red meat dishes, whether roasted or with dark sauces, and especially lamb and kid. It is also delicious with stewed or grilled mushrooms and with mild, aged cheeses.
